Island, Kowloon, but not New Territories? Chiu Tang

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend in mood for Chiu Chow food.  Hmm... It tough fashion decision.  Chiu Chow places usually no grand and Dai Pai Dong but all movie stars and singers go and park their Ferrari and Lamborghini outside.  I no wear most chic trendy with taste, I look strong country woman.  So I said no head to toe same brand.  All France they think I wear fake Hermes.  No good no good. Who know A goods are made in France not Shenzhen now!?  Anyway, I wear Helmut Lang.  Strong country people think Lang is Chinese last name so I won't wear same dress as they do.  I no understand why name is Helmut though.  That's what you wear when you ride motorcycle, no?

Anyway, no need worry because Sweet Sweet Boyfriend want go Chiu Tang in Cosmo Hotel in Happy Valley.  Place has lots of private rooms and inside hotel. So grand, very private. You lock door from inside and there funny mirror in room so you know if food coming.  I like it lots until I smell cigarette.  No good for my skin and hair.  Manager say it's some strong country people from the hotel. They no know rules and smoke in lift but smell from restaurant room... I more upset when I say NO STOOL!  Island and Kowloon Tang ok and what happen to Chiu Tang?  Maybe they should call it New Territories Tang so that I get stool.

First dish was foie gras in wine with tofu.  So grand, thick cut.  They know I eat and so not too much wine.  The tofu texture ok and no strong taste.  Foie gras very grand.  If it is goose liver, I no eat. I no eat organ meat!

Assorted marinated meat.  All taste same same as tofu.

No know which one shrimp ball which one crab ball.  All taste same same

Pu Ning Tofu (deep fried).  I say to Sweet Sweet Boyfriend, "Why deep fried food again?  You want me to fat died me!?  Deep fried has breadcrumb on top mah!  I say no carb after 3pm"  Everyone look at me and no say a word.  I know I right.  Panko give smooth skin... err... am I right?

Fried ho fun noodle with beef. The restaurant know what I like.  The noodle very smooth and white.  No char at all.  Foody people don't know better.  Too much char no good for health. Fat Foody Woman said no good and she go kitchen to show how to fry ho fun noodle with char.  I say "You mad cow disease now?  Restaurant do good job to keep noodle white and smooth"

Last noodle? Why carb again?  They say this is two face yellow.  I look at Sweet Sweet Boyfriend. Is he making fun of me, calling me Yellow Face Old Woman?  Does he want new girlfriend because I wore Helmut Lang but not Ann Demeulemeester today?  Luckily, I think he joke only because one side of noodle not yellow.  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend so funny!  It was so sweet, I no eat noodle that night and felt full already.

As local as you can get - Fu Sing

Today Tuen Ng festival (Dragon Boat) and Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say we go swimming or row boat.  I say no way, too windy make my hair no good looking and the sun no good.  I no like wearing long sleeves swimming suit like Middle East girl.  What they call it, Burka?  I no like sun neither.  I no want get freckles.  Laser make my skin red for one week. 

He insist and we went reservoir to row boat.  We walk up hill and saw a big white Alphard park right outside entrance.  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say we call police to tow car.  I say why?  They so grand. He should do same for me instead make me walk up hill. Selfish?  What selfish?  I was already angry to walk up and saw Alphard family make me more angry.  They have Philippines helper row boat when fat children sit there to eat.  I said to Sweet Sweet Boyfriend.  You like row boat, you row!

I no in good mood and Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say we leave early for dim sum in Causeway Bay and if I good, he take me Bottega in Time Square to buy new hangbag.  Nothing too exciting at Bottega this season but girls in office know it is Bottega.  

We went to Fu Sing and get table close to entry.  They no have stool for handbags and I put my Anya on chair.  Place not grand.  Reception area no pretty like IFC place.  I worry food no good but I saw big board sign by many famous people including models like Kathy Chow.  If she eat at Fu Sing, I can too. I will still be size 2.

First thing was Char Siu.  This one texture soft with big piece fat.  Like all stylist girls, I take fat out and Sweet Sweet Boyfriend took them.  Char Siu very sweet and juicy.  Best part was sauce.  People say fat char siu no good.  I say no good too but reduce damage, you no eat carb together.  All movie stars, singers and models in HK no eat carbs. I usually no eat after 3pm but now is Summer, I may go no carb like them. 

We had fried chicken wings with shrimp paste.  It like Greyhound Cafe.  Chicken wings cut in halfs.  Who come up with idea first?  This one very good. I like it more than KFC,  Very crispy skin but soft meat inside.  Taste very good.  Shrimp paste taste better than smell.  Very local food.

I say no eat too much meat but no carb. So we got crispy tofu.  It's nice texture but the taste no as good as chicken wings.  No special...err... pinch? Punch?  Kick?

We got wonton in fish broth; first no deep fried dish.  Wonton so small and only pork inside.  I say why no like Jim Chai Kee in Central?  They wonton big like a golf ball and this place no Mak's noodle with tiny wonton either.  Too much skin and so too much carb and thick when bite.

I say Sweet Sweet Boyfriend go crazy.  Deep fried again. This spring roll no come with Worcestershire sauce.   I say no no that's no alright. Then I saw honey lemon on plate.  Quite different from normal.  Filling nice and skin crispy. Interesting spring roll.

Finally har gau arrived.  The skin so different from that grand one at Cuisine Cuisine.  This one no clear see through and no stick to chopstick and breaks. More bamboo better, no? Balance diet

Meat in tofu sheet (Seen Chuk Guen) - This one is not just pork.  It has a bit of everything, shrimp, pork, mushroom, vegetable.  Very nice texture and tasty.  I no know why people no like it.  Seen Chuk Guen very good taste

Char Siu Pineapple bun.  The crust nice but it no look like pineapple??  The bun is hot when they serve.  Quite nice and soft.  No hard bottom bun

Steam Char Siu Bao. Bun fluffy and char siu not just fat but no orange sauce inside?   No like other char siu bao?   The top of bun no yellow dry spot.  I said "with no spot, how you know it's steamed?"

Last dim sum came.  Fried rice roll in XO sauce.  So full and couldn't eat.  I worry too spicy and bad for skin but it was no strong.  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend no like it too much.  Say no char on rice roll and not enough spice.

We got free dessert.  Mango and sago cream.  No as good as before.  No coconut cream.  I so disappointed.  France Foody Woman use coconut oil for hair, skin and cooking.  It so grand and must be good and now they no give me coconut cream!?

Place so local with TV on wall.  Manager come over say hello and said "All our dim sum are made here at the restaurant. Lots of other places just steam theirs at the restaurant;  their dim sum are made in central kitchen or even China".  I no know dim sum made in Central.  That's so grand to have Central dim sum.  Hmm... Fu Sing so local even dim sum made locally.  They should learn be grand.

Lupa, not the wolf but the restaurant

I go open party of Lupa with Sweet Sweet Boyfriend and his foody friends.  I took picture with the fat chef and I no know who that is.  Foody Woman say "Lucky you!  That's Mario Batali, the Iron Chef, one of the partners of Eataly.  You know that, right?"  I say "Of course!"  Why Iron Chef not Cast Iron Chef?  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend said Cast Iron pan very good...  Eataly?  Isn't it Italy?  Hmm....

And boys and girls fan, sorry!  No show my face because I need anonymity (or is it annoyance?  I no know which word. Sweet Sweet Boyfriend no teaching me good) as food blogger! 

Anyway, many Foody people write about Lupa and I need to go.  After all, I am grand food blogger.  How I no go for review?  So,  I went with girlfriends for lunch.   I remember what those Foody friends of Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say about food writer, they no go bling bling. So, I took my Tod's Bauletto that Sweet Sweet Boyfriend bought me.  I no see too many in HK yet.  

Restaurant say very grand place in New York City but service just ok in HK.   Place too big and long walk to table and have to see many people.  We went to table and Huh?  They no have stool!?  No stool!?  They really lucky because I go with two girlfriends and we put bags in one chair.  Not grand but at least no on floor.  

Lunch is buffet and you add money to add main and dessert.  I pick lots of salad because I eat healthy like all stylish people.  I no understand why they no cut arugula.  So long and difficult to cut.  The arugula must  be good though because taste so much stronger than one form super market.  I also ate beet root, cold cut and cheese.  All ok texture and taste fresh.  

I no know what to eat for main and ask recommendation. Waitress said try Garganelli with Oxtail Ragu.  Oxtail slow cook.  I say slow cook very good. Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say meat slow cook good texture and juicy.  Pasta texture good but oxtail not strong taste enough.  The orange too strong and no oxtail taste left.  

All girls, even on diet, love dessert.  I go spinning class and ask my personal trainer to increase my weight from 2 lbs to 3 lbs but I need eat dessert.  I went to dessert table and got lemon tart, meringue, apple tart, cheese cake and chestnut mouse?  Everything so soft and cute.  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend will no like apple and lemon tart because base soft and no char but I ok.  I did not finish lemon tart because night before, I ate best lemon tart by Foody Baker Woman and I no eat any lemon tart not as good.

Restaurant ok but I ask Sweet Sweet Boyfriend take me New York to eat at real Lupa so that I can say "I ate at NY one!"

53 in the world!? Really?

Today my second day in Singapore and I no like shopping in hot weather.  So difficult to walk when hot outside and very humid.  It is like something "sure fit" that Sweet Sweet Boyfriend like?  He say cooking at 50C in water tank makes food good.  If name "sure fit" is right, I walk around like that I stay size 2 very good too.  I choose wear Jimmy Choo Patriot Metallic Suede Espadrille because name so Singaporean and I think it cute to match but it so hot.  I feel like shoe melting under my feet.   

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend busy at work and I went Les Amis after Orchard Road shopping on my own.  I know how to use new HTC One that Sweet Sweet Boyfriend bought me and found out this is 53rd World Best Restaurant.   I eat at very grand place and he foody no eating there! 

The place so grand with gweilo staff.  Everyone speak English there... Oh! I forgot, it's Singapore. Of course everyone speak English.  The place very grand.  Red velvet wall, black marble column and very big chandelier.  People say location location location. I understand when sit here.  So prime so grand location with many high class people around and no like young and rude people elsewhere. 

The restaurant no like new modern design with nothing.  What they say? Minimalist?  I think they too cheap to put money in furniture.  This place is grand and I so happy when they take me to table.  They say "Madam, here's the stool for your handbag"  See why they 53rd in the world?  I no need ask like at Pierre. Stool is right there.  Other Singapore places, I say you no have stool and I disappointed.  I think that is no fair comment.  Les Amis has!   I like Singapore now.  Err.. Just keep durian away from me ok?  Durian smelly and texture no good no form no grand.

So, they gave me butter for my bread.  Bread made at restaurant.  They say homemade but restaurant no home why homemade?  Always puzzle me.   The butter come like two small ball so cute, one is tomato and one is plain. They so considerate not like other places like that restaurant in Macau inside big glass ball that give you big block of butter.  Their butter sweet and no taste like cheese like one at home that Sweet Sweet Boyfriend use to bake that Sweet Sweet Boyfriend use to bake.  I ask them what it is and the waitress lady say it France butter. I said which one and she checked and say "It's President".  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend eat all this France butter I cannot say name;  Bordier, Le Gall, Echire.  This one I can and I know it is grand because it is President, biggest title!  So much better than Anchor at office restaurant

First amuse bouche (I know I know, Sweet Sweet Boyfriend taught me this no Amuse Bush!).  They say 30 month ham and white truffle oil.  30 month?  I a little worry to eat 30 month meat.  Is it still ok to eat so old meat?  Everyone else eat and gweilo waiter wait for me to eat so I eat.  Not too fat and not too salty.  The cookie under very thin and cute but no very crispy. 

White asparagus and uni.  It make me think of dinner at very grand agnès b.  Very nice with flower tasty very good and uni sweet.  It's very big and I think it's first dish but they say no, this second amuse bouche

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend orders wine all time but I no like no sweet wine and they no have cocktail like Hello Kitty at Cut so I had champagne.  So nice to drink fizzy on hot day.  They say this one Bruno Paillard Brut NV.  I no understand what it is but I decide no pink champagne coz I want to drink like Foody people.  

Panko crusted confit free range hen egg joselito iberico, spinach and crispy farmers bread.  I so like Japan food.  I know what Panko mean.  It is crispy for deep fried Japan food.  Dish arrive and egg was no cooked to hard yolk.  I say Trouble!  I no eat no cooked egg unless it's Japan onsen egg.  Aiyee, I don't know confit mean no cook to hard yolk!  I now foody but raw egg!?  Gweilo waiter wait for me to say food good and so I eat la.  They cut egg open and yolk touch my spinach. I say oh no oh no!  Why no me cut egg open instead?

The panko not as thick as pork cutlet at Japan restaurant and not as golden.  I think Sweet Sweet Boyfriend will say that no golden brown enough.  I think it good because no deep-fried and me stay size 2.  Spinach and ham good together.  Egg white harder than the "sure fit" egg Sweet Sweet Boyfriend cook for me at home.

Crispy fried Kurobuta pork belly white asparagus, mushrooms, "Gao Zhi".  I no know what to eat.  Pork or not but I remember Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say pork belly have much collagen and very good for my skin.  When I see it, I say ok, I get this!

The pork very crispy a little dry but fat cook very well.  All fat come out only collagen left.  I no understand "Gao Zhi"   It sound China but no look China food.  Why it on pork?  The inside all meat but can be gooder if they add chives like Shanghai wonton.  I look at watch, 1:45pm, I can still eat carb and I ate Gao Zhi.

I so full now but restaurant say I try good dessert.  I say ok ok.  First dessert strawberry, juniper, sorrel, dried milk.  So refreshing good for hot weather.  I like green sauce taste.  Pastry Chick of restaurant say that sorrel and juniper.  Very nice.  Strawberry so big and sweet

I thought I finish and second dessert come.  This baby coconut?  I say I no eat shell but Pastry Chick of restaurant say eat eat no break your teeth.  Ah!  It ice cream with chocolate outside.  White pieces coconut meat and cream lemon grass.  Hmm.. Mango so strong taste like charcoal barbecue.   Should I call it chars mango?  This I like.

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend and Foody cousins always finish lunch with espresso.  I order espresso too and to make me big time Foody, I order double espresso.  They say it negative calories and good for digestion.  Coffee better than Starbucks.  No like water.

Finally, they gave me petit four.  I like nougat very much. So nutty and not too sweet.  The chocolate all very good with alcohol and caramel inside,  Madeleine ok taste but not as pretty as one baked by France Foody Woman and Sweet Sweet Boyfriend. They no use steel mould is what Sweet Sweet Boyfriend will say but I like shinny like beautiful foundation using silicon mould.

I happy at Les Amis.  The stool, the chandelier shui jing deng, the marble.  All oh so grand!

Charsiu or chashu!? No char?

Much people queue long queue to eat ramen in Hong Kong.  I no go local ramen.  Only Japan one good.  But I no like queue.  Grand girl no queuing so I no go Ippudo in Hong Kong even though it famous.  I wait for Sweet Sweet Boyfriend to finish work and I went shopping and ate ramen at Ippudo.

The noodle very thin like Ajisen but they cook special order so no soggy noodle.  They have two tonkotsu soup. I ask what difference and they say one light one rich.  I order Shiromaru Tamago. They say light but still strong.  I like their Tamago egg.  Japan egg so safe, no need to worry get sick eating not cooked to hard yolk egg.  

They use rosu chashu but how come chashu no char??  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say good char siu has char but this one no char.  But Japan food always bestest of best.  So what to do?  He no around and I no know what to think. 

I see people get salad so I get salad too.  You eat salad you get good skin and stay size 2.  Maybe not with all carbs but eating salad still good, no?  This one very nice.  Japan people make salad so good.  The use broccoli, lettuce, tofu.  Even deep-fried skin on top very good.

The queue not very long but no stool for my handbag.  Singapore not very stool-friendly so far.  I so disappointed.   Friends in Singapore, please make stool at restaurants.  We grand girls take nice bag and don't take dust bag out. You no give stool, I no come back again!

Hello Kitty - The bestest cocktail ever

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend work in Singapore this week and he say go with him.  I said "What to do in Singapore?  I no eat Durian, so smelly!"   Anyway, he bought me ticket and so I go.  My little cousin say "Jealous die me" and I say "Who told you to keep Cheap Cheap Boyfriend?"

It is so hot in Singapore.  Shopping outside MBS very difficult you know?  So hot and many people wear flip flop and wedges.  I insist wear four inch stiletto.  No girl should walk around in shoes that make your leg fat.  If it hurt foot?  Go foot massage!  Why you think there so many foot massage shop everywhere? Girlfriends, listen to me, Never Ever Be Seen in Not Nice Shoes! 

I tire die me from shopping.  Lots of Northern cousin in Singapore shopping too but not as crowded as Hong Kong.  I call Sweet Sweet Boyfriend and we meet up for drinks before dinner.  He take me to CUT  by this man Wolfgang Puck.  He has funny German name but he knows us Asian good.  He has "Hello Kitty" on menu for grand but super cute girls like me.

Hello Kitty is rum, juices and chili.  Rum make drink so sweet.  Chili help loose weight. I so happy to drink it even though Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say "Why this??"  I say you man no understand.  We lady no drink beer or we no grand.  I no like drink no sweet wine so when I see Hello Kitty, I have to get it. 

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend order some mini-burger for me.  He say very good here.  I say what to do?  No carb after 3pm.  He said little bun toasted and they no longer carb. It's char crust. Eating char crust is ok.  Like when you have gas in stomach, you eat toast.  That's no eating carb.  I said why bun no black. He said that's white char.  Better than using SKII

I ate mini-burger.  They so taste good.  Good texture. No like MacDonald's, the bread don't fall apart.  Very good soft texture beef and vegetables inside.

Place in MBS so much good looking people but no stool for bags. I so disappointed.  They say original shop in Beverly Hills.  Beverly Hills! You know what that is? I know.  Beverly Hills 90210 , they eat burger, all movie stars very grand!

Thai in North Point!? You kidding me?

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend ask if I like Thai food. I said "Kowloon City?  No grand to go Kowloon!  I no go!"  He said "No no, I promise you, waterfront building.  Private kitchen style Thai. Remember, resort style, no four inch heels"

I think it Repulsive Bay for Thai and said ok.  Going to Repulsive Bay mean I need to dress nice because lots of rich people but no four inch heel? What he thinking?  No enough time and I pick a M Missoni S/S 2012 maxi dress with Burberry tribal sandals.  To be special among rich people, I use Nancy Gonzalez clutch. I need to tell them have money to buy is no grand enough. You need have taste.  You be grand, be bling but no style is bad.  That bore die me! 

When Sweet Sweet Boyfriend park the car at AIA Tower. I say "Car broke down?  We go taxi now?"  He no say a word and took me to the wet market building.   I angry die me.  Why we go wet market?  I no go wet market to shop and now he want me eat there?  Let's get this right, only not grand people go wet market. I only go Great and Citysuper to buy me food.  So grand shopping mall with people to take cart to your car.  I no want see fish swimming in tank or chicken with feather.  

Walk to restaurant is difficult.  No carpet, no shui jing deng, no marble floor.  We sat down at corner. The wall has sign say "Thai Som Tum" with lots of pictures. I say, "You lie to me!  I thought we go Repulsive Bay and now North Point?"  He said "It is by the harbour, authentic Thai food by Thai chef.  When we go to Phuket, we eat at markets too.  Look at the pictures of all the famous people. Don't you like it?"  Ok, there are some entertainment type picture but they no big star.  

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend ordered lots of food.  I was upset at first and no want to eat.  He put food on a plate nicely for me.  

Pork neck and fried shrimp cake arrive first.  Look so char.  I no eat charcoal.  People said eat charcoal die cancer. Sweet Sweet Boyfriend said we are no eating charcoal and no need worry. Hmm... The pork neck pretty good especially with spicy sauce.  The shrimp cake nice too.  Very bouncy texture.  

Papaya salad.  So crunchy and so spicy.  Shouldn't it be soft?  That is what I eat in nice Thai restaurants. Very watery.  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say this one is fresh and better.  He foody, I believe him.

Grilled chicken.  I said "Gao Chor?"  Chicken with bones? I am grand girl.  No eat chicken with bones.  I only eat fillet.   Sweet Sweet Boyfriend said "Oh! Eat the white meat.  I will take the meat off the bone for you." He look happy to eat the wings and legs.  He so sweet, saving best chicken for me.  What type people eat "dark meat"?  Name so wrong. Grand girl like me eat chicken breast only.   Chicken was good.

The minced pork with lettuce.  Why they no use bowl.  Have to use lettuce to wrap the pork.  That doesn't work with my new crystal encrusted nail with 3-D painting.  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend made it for me.  Dish spicy but good.  I am happy so far.  No carb!

Fried vegetable.   Why no steam? I ask Sweet Sweet Boyfriend. That will fat die me to stir fry in oil.  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say ok.  It's fry in olive oil.  Only Omega 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.  Good for my hair and skin.

Last main dish is deep fried fish.  I usually no like deep fried unless it's Japanese tempura.  But this fish good soft texture inside.  Sweet Sweet Boyfriend ate the bone and I say "What you doing?  Laugh die me!  When you turn poor and eat bone?"  He said bone is best but I too grand. I no eat.

Sweet Sweet Boyfriend surprised me with Mango and sticky rice dessert.  I so happy.  Chinese restaurants always give mango dessert to non-Chinese.  One time we went a Michilin Chinese restaurant in Mongkok hotel and they mix up order.  They gave free mango pudding and say "Your non-Chinese friends like mango, you know!?"  I get Mango dessert because that make me grand and western.  Dessert good with lots of coconut milk.  I worry fat but Sweet Sweet Boyfriend say vegetable oil ok.  Also, top models use coconut oil for skin and hair.

The dinner didn't start good because no go Repulsive Bay.  There no stool for handbag and my maxi dress in wet market no good  (I need dry cleaning) but food was good.  I just won't call it Resort style because I expect resort is by swimming pool side with white table cloth and local people play music in their local clothes
